Year after year, talented wedding planners (like ourselves!), floral designers, wedding vendors and exquisite wedding venues across the country come up with stunning new ideas for couples to use to create their perfect big day. Now it’s time to look into 2018’s wedding trends.
2017 brought us an influx of greenery, monochromatic colour schemes and the popular rustic-chic theme. But today we are going to show you how to create the new “Rustic 2.0” that will sweep the nation when tieing the knot this year.
Every detail is important when planning a wedding. From the colours adorning your finishing touches to the foods and desserts your guests will be enjoying. However, 2018 wedding trends that are currently emerging show its no longer just about personalising a wedding specifically to the couple, but to their guests attending the wedding as well.
Couples now need to think about who their guests are and what they mean to them. By adding some small interactive experiences and details to your big day, you can really show your guests the careful thought and planning that’s gone into your wedding.
2018 Colour Of The Year – Ultra Violet
The Pantone color of the year has been revealed! And as always, this is a big indicator of what’s to come in wedding trends… Last year’s colour focus was Greenery. We saw brides opting for green decor within tablescapes, installations and bouquets.
2018 is all about Ultra Violet purple. You can expect to see plenty of purple floral inspiration in wedding invites (chat to the amazing RyanPatrick Design on this one), table centres and table decor; like napkins and plates.
Metallics of the moment = Silver and Chrome
Metallics are here to stay, but instead of gold, brass and rose gold, which have been popular for the past few years, couples are bringing silver and chrome into the mix for 2018 wedding styling.
We’re already seeing so much silver and chrome influencing home decor, fashion and even cosmetics like nail polishes as they make their comeback. Now, this is beginning to filter into weddings.
Hanging flowers are the floral decor of the moment.
Suspended arrangements are in for 2018. And we LOVE them. Couples are keeping their guest tables simple and focusing more on ceiling decorations.
For a more understated centerpiece, one idea that will be popular for 2018 wedding reception tables is a small cluster of vases with just one or two types of flowers. Obviously this is right up our street at Sweetheart Vintage!
Marble & Copper
This chic, modern pairing is beautiful at weddings and we are seeing it more and more. Create an Insta-worthy tablescape by using white marble accents with metallic copper details to add warmth and contrast.
And, while we’re on the subject of Instagram… don’t forget your own personalised hashtag for your wedding. Allow your guests to post their experience of your big day and keep it all in the same place to be viewed by everyone!
We love the idea of balancing sleek geometric shapes with soft flowers and natural greenery. Whether you put gold hexagons on your wedding cake or incorporate terrarium-inspired vessels in your centerpieces, geometric shapes are an unexpected (and totally cool) addition to your 2018 wedding décor.
There you have it. All the biggest trends you need to know about while you’re adding the finishing touches to your 2018 wedding.
It’s been a massive couple of years for us at Sweetheart Vintage Weddings. Such a pleasure to create unique, beautiful experiences for each one of our lovely clients. We look forward to continuing and growing even more in 2018.
Don’t forget, if you need any advice or help planning your big day, just drop us a message on Facebook or give us a call to arrange a time to call into our new showroom in Newtownards for a chat! We’d love to hear from you.
